When we first walked in, the challenges were clear: significant soffits, a cramped layout, and a dishwasher that opened directly into the homeowner’s standing zone at the sink (a daily game of kitchen Twister no one asked for). Add in worn flooring and aging white thermofoil cabinetry, and the space was ready for a serious reset.

Before we talked finishes, we fixed function. The layout was reworked to eliminate the daily bottlenecks and give the homeowner room to actually use the kitchen comfortably. The result is a space that flows logically, feels open, and supports real-life cooking and cleanup without compromise.

The original floors had seen better days, so the homeowners selected an easy-to-care-for luxury vinyl plank (LVP) in a herringbone pattern by Daltile. The look delivers visual interest and warmth while standing up to everyday wear — proof that practical choices can still be beautiful.

Cabinetry That Elevated the Entire Space

We replaced the dated thermofoil cabinets with navy and white cabinetry from Shiloh Cabinetry, selecting Malibu-style doors for their clean lines and subtle character. The color contrast immediately modernized the room while keeping it timeless.

A narrow island became a quiet hero of the design. It added much-needed storage, created seating, and allowed us to integrate a drawer microwave — all without overwhelming the footprint of the kitchen. Smart design beats bigger design every time.

Lighting, Tile, and Finishing Touches

Beautiful pendant lighting above the island adds warmth and personality, while a picket-style backsplash introduces texture and movement without competing with the cabinetry. Updated windows completed the transformation, giving the kitchen a fully finished, polished look that feels bright and intentional.
